Introducing Kate & Roy | Calgary Photographers

Meet Kate and Roy.  Kate and Roy were the last couple to book for 2010 for their wedding in October.  I was excited when I first met them because they are obviously a good looking couple and stylish as well.  I was ecstatic when they chose me as their wedding photographer.  I was really looking forward to shooting their e-session in downtown Calgary since they booked.  They definitely didn’t disappoint when they showed up.  They both looked good and ready to work the camera for me.  We had fun just walking around downtown looking for opportunities to make cool photos.  Without further ado, here are Kate and Roy.

Introducing Cindy & Kevin | Calgary Engagement Photography

Meet Cindy and Kevin.  They were one of the last 2010 couples to book and they didn’t want to wait for their turn in front of my camera!  We first started out shooting at Bowmont Park and we were literally eaten by thousands of mosquitoes.  Yes, those little buggers are back.  We all got tons of bites, but some of the shots we got were worth it.  Every image I edited, I had to remove all the mosquitoes buzzing around Cindy and Kevin.  When we could handle it anymore we left and went into Bowness to finish off the session.  The photos from the second location turned out much better.  Easy to understand why!  No mosquitoes!  Next time, I am packing repellent!  C&K are getting married later this in September.

Introducing Jen & Jason – Calgary Engagement Photos

Meet Jen and Jason!  Jen and Jason are a super cool couple and are totally down to earth.  We had some fun at a Flames game earlier this year, so it was nice to finally see them again.

We had an awesome time doing their engagement photos down by the Elbow River near downtown Calgary.  We found some interesting places to stop and shoot some photos.  Afterwards we ventured over to warehouse district to shoot some more and ended up at the Arriva building as the weather started to turn on us.  The security guard there graciously allowed us to shoot inside the building.

Their wedding is at the end of June and from the sounds of it, it’s going to be one heck of a celebration!

Introducing Amber & Aaron | Calgary Engagement Photography

Introducing Amber and Aaron!  Aaron found me hanging out on my favorite Flames forum called Calgarypuck.  At first Amber wasn’t sure if a hockey forum was the right place to be looking for a wedding photographer in Calgary.  Good thing for me, Amber liked my work.  A&A both really wanted have a few photos taken on the carousel at Chinook Mall.  We eventually ended our shoot at a Tim Horton’s, the company Amber is a lawyer for.  She figured her fellow co-workers would get a kick out of seeing a few photos of her in front of a Tim Horton’s.

Amber and Aaron will probably have one of the more extravagant weddings this year that I will have the honor of covering.  They are getting married at the Palliser with a Cirque du Soleil themed wedding.  Yes, you can let your imagination run wild with this one.  There will be performers!  Did I ever mention, I love my job?  I am so excited about their wedding and I can’t wait for June 12th!

Christina and Lenny in the Badlands | Calgary Engagement Photography

Christina and Lenny came to me in September about photography for their wedding that was going to be held in Toronto.  Unfortunately for them, I was already booked for their date.  They both are Torontonian transplants who haven’t been in Calgary for very long.  Their first impressions of Calgarians was that we are super friendly.  Too friendly to the point they weren’t sure if people were just faking it not.  After a 1 and a half years here, they now know that we are truly super friendly.  It’s just the way it is here out west.

Because I couldn’t do their wedding photography, Christina came back to me and asked if we could do an engagement session around Calgary.  I was more than happy to do something for them.  They mostly loved of my fashion inspired work, so I told them we could shoot somewhere unique instead of inside Calgary.  At first they wanted to head west towards the mountains, but I suggested we head east to the badlands instead.  Of course they were both up for that.  Christina asked me what they should wear and I said “just look pimp”.   Needless to say, they showed up really pimped out and I couldn’t wait to get started.

I wish you both an awesome wedding in Toronto.  I really wished I could have been a part of it, but I am still glad you wanted to do a session with me, otherwise we never would have met.  You both are an awesome couple and I know your big day is going to be amazing.  Congrats on your upcoming wedding.  I hope you love your photos as much as I loved making them for you!  Don’t be a stranger!

Christina & Lenny’s e-session sneak peek!

Rarely do I do a sneak peek of an engagement session, but I had to share this photo right now!!  As soon I got home from the session I knew I had to work on it right away.  We had our session in the badlands in Drumheller, AB, 75 minutes east of Calgary.  There will be more from this hot session later this week.  For now here’s one, enjoy!!

JT Images Best of 2009 | Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer and Banff Wedding Photography

2009 was an amazing year personally for me and for JT Images.  We had the honour of photographing 21 weddings and also did 2 trash the dress and a day after wedding session.  We shot weddings in Calgary, Edmonton, Banff and Red Deer.  Somewhere in there I also did 15 engagement sessions.  On top of that, I hosted my own “Just to Inspire” wedding photography workshop for the first time ever, here in Calgary.  All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family and friends, and especially Ryan, who assisted me on 95% of the weddings.  Muchos gracias, mi amigo!

My biggest thanks goes out to all my wonderful and amazing clients.  I am truly honoured to have been chosen to photograph such an important event in your lives and to be a part of it.  I really hope you will cherish all the wonderful images we made together, for all eternity.  I know I will!

Once I finished the last wedding of the season, I couldn’t wait to get started on my yearbook and this slide show.  My book hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does, I’ll be sure to share that with you all.  But for now, here are the images that made it in the book in a slide show presentation.  It was hard to narrow it down to 140 images, out the tens of thousands that I shot last year, but I did it.  Well, what are you waiting for???  Hit play!

Introducing Katie & Cole – Calgary Olympic Plaza Engagement Session

It seems forever now since I met Katie and Cole.  In fact they were one of my first 2010 couples that booked last year.  Katie used to figure skate and Cole plays hockey…. Johnny loves hockey too!  What better place can we go to do our engagement photos, than at the historic Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary?  We started off shooting in around the Calgary City Hall area before made our way over to Olympic Plaza.  You won’t see these 2 again on the blog until August when they finally get married!

Introducing Jennifer & Benjamin at the Westjet Hangar!

Jennifer and Ben (also known as Beniffer) are another one of my 2010 couples.   Jenn and Ben both work in the airline industry here in Calgary.  With those kinds of hookups, we had no problem shooting their engagement photos in one of the coolest locations we have shot in yet.  The Westjet Hangar at the Calgary International Airport!

Introducing Danielle & Jonathan

Dani & Jon’s are the first 2010 couple to have an engagement session with me.  Their wedding will be held in May at the beautiful Silver Tip Golf Course in Canmore.  A venue I have yet to shoot in so I am looking forward to it big time.  We had to reschedule this session a couple times due to weather.  Aren’t we glad we did???  All the snow melted and the temperature was warm, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
