Lily & Sheldon’s wedding went off without a hitch in Calgary on a very hot August day.  We started the day right at Faith Lutheran Church where Lily put on her beautiful dress.   The turnout for the little church was impressive, as it was filled with close friends and family who were ready to witness L&S get married.   You could see the joy in their eyes as they stood at the alter.  I don’t think they both even stopped smiling.  After a very nice ceremony, we headed out to do our photos.  The first place we stopped was right by the river.  It was a hot day, so there were lots of people floating down the bow and we heard many congrats and cheers for our newlyweds.  After a lot of praises, a truck went by and someone said “sucker” to which all of us had a really good laugh.  I was able to get permission to shoot in an appliance store the day before and we had a ton of fun shooting in there.  We used everything from the fridges, ovens, to washer and dryers to microwaves!  Congrats you guys I hope you love your photos.  You both really deserve each other. :)

I’ve been so busy with all the weddings in August so far, I forgot to post some sneak peeks.  Without further ado, here’s a sneak peek of Lily and Sheldon’s wedding in Calgary at the beginning of August.  Lots of goodies from their set, but everyone will have to wait.

Zairra & Cuong finally got hitched on the 18th of this month.  The day started with us at their home, in central Calgary, where we shot both preps and also the tea ceremony.  Before Cuong could see his bride, he needed to negotiate his way into the home (a Chinese tradition).   They eventually settled on an amount to which Cuong wrote a check for.  But he wasn’t off the hook yet.  When the boys entered, the girls also made Cuong do 200 pushups.  Cuong’s best man, Jason, graciously helped him out and did some of his pushups for him.  Finally it was time to see beautiful Zairra come down and see her groom.   Once the tea ceremony was over we headed down to Sacred Heart Church on 14th street where the ceremony was being held.  And of course after that we went had some fun with wedding photography at Calgary’s Shaw Millenium Park and around the Calgary downtown core.  The reception was held at Forbidden City at Pacific Place mall.  Congratulations to you both!!!  I hope your wedding was everything you dreamed off and thanks for having Ryan and I create memories for you.

Lily and Sheldon showed up for their engagement photo session all dressed up and looking mighty fine!  I’ve also played a little of hockey with Sheldon here and there, so it was easy to connect with these guys,  They were down with all my crazy ideas.  I took them to one of my favorite stomping grounds for their engagement session.  Even when I go to the same location twice, I am constantly challenge myself to do something different.  It had rained before so there were some puddles here and there that gave us some wicked shots.  I love trains and train tracks.  I know, I know.. I’ve done a lot of train track stuff, but I can’t help it, I love the lines!!  These 2 were more than willing to make out in front of me and they sure did a lot of that!  We got some pretty hot stuff.  L&S are getting married in August so watch out for these 2 love birds on the blog in August.  Enjoy!

This wedding was really fun for me because Ray and Julie are friends of mine. All his groomsmen I know really well from playing floor hockey with every Sunday. The day started off with the traditional Chinese tea ceremony at Ray’s parents house. It was quite the atmosphere, as there was lots of excitement in the house. The actual wedding ceremony was setup beautifully at Devonian Gardens. Lots of on lookers stopped to see some of the action. Ryan, my second shooter, was with me again and we got some really good multiple angles. It was a good thing J&R decided to have the JT Day session, as time was limited after the ceremony. But we still managed to get some cool shots.
Ceremony Location – Devonian Gardens – Calgary, AB

Reception Location – Regency Palace – Calgary, AB

This wedding was full of energy! I loved it. Lan & Michael booked me sort of last minute, but I am sure glad they did. The day started off the same as usual until the groom’s party came. I was stuck outside shooting them only to realize the bride’s party wouldn’t let them in the house without compensation (chinese tradition where money was given to enter bride’s home). I needed to get inside so that I could shoot the boys coming in. As soon as they opened the door for me, I realized I got used because the boys started to barge in fighting resistance from the inside. I was stuck in the middle!! It was all in good fun as the girls decided if they each did 50 push ups they would be allowed to enter. This is how the wedding started, can you imagine how it must have ended? Thanks Lan & Mike for having me capture your special and crazy fun day with you.
