I am so excited to finally be able to share Alma & Conven’s wedding.  We went up QE2 to Edmonton recently for their wedding and it was a blast.  We started the day at their house, where Alma was getting ready.  There was so much energy in the house, as the girls got ready.  As soon as Alma was all done up and looking amazing, we headed to a spot where she had picked out for their first look.  It was a nice wooded area with a path that led down to the N. Saskatchewan River.  Alma had texted me images of this area from her phone previously, and I told her it was perfect then.  When arrived there, it was just as I imagined after seeing her photo.  I sent Conven down the path to wait for Alma.  Ryan and I talked strategy and where we would be shooting from to make this happen.  It went off without a hitch, and as you can tell from the photos, it was just perfect with lots of emotion.

We headed to downtown Edmonton just across the street from the Art Gallery of Alberta for the photos, with the intentions of doing most of the photos at the Gallery itself.  The Gallery is a beautiful modern building with lots of photo opportunities inside and out.  Their ceremony was held in the theatre downstairs and the super fun reception was upstairs in the main gallery.  The venue was a wonderful breath of fresh air with its open concept.

Thank you Alma and Conven for having Ryan and I there for your wedding.  I am so grateful to have met you and worked with you both.  Your wedding was super fun and it it something I won’t forget anytime soon.

I met Lori & Clay only a few months before their wedding.  They were looking for an Edmonton wedding photographer pretty last minute, but good things always work out for a good reason.   While meeting them at my home studio, I felt an instant connection with both of them and hoped they would book.  The rest is history!

On this day I had Gordon Scade assist me with their wedding.  Lori & Clay had their wedding at the amazing Fairmont Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton even though both live and work here in Calgary.  Both Lori and Clay were staying at the Hotel MacDonald before the night of the wedding.  In fact, their rooms were right across from each other which made the prep photos much quicker.  I bounced back and forth from room to room taking prep shots of both parties.

The ceremony was held in the elegant Empire Ballroom at the hotel, where it would serve as the location of the reception, later that evening.  The ceremony was short and sweet and then was proceeded by the traditional Chinese tea ceremony.  Once the 2 ceremonies were complete, the guests were served with a fantastic light lunch.  Afterwards we headed outside on the grounds of the hotel and the surrounding areas to go create some beautiful wedding photos of Lori, Clay and their wedding party.  Gordon, my assistant for the day, who lives in Edmonton, showed me around the hotel pointing out some killer spots for photos.  We photographed as many images as we could before we had to head back to the Hotel Mac.  The bride and groom went up to their room to freshen up while I sat down to put together the same day slideshow.

Thank you Lori and Clay for trusting me with your beautiful, elegant and stunning wedding.  I hope I have exceeded your all expectations.  Michelle and I are truly honored and excited to call you guys friends.  I hope there will be more rides on the sailboat and more play dates for Lexi and Jonas!

Shanley & Tam got married back in July and had their wedding at the Marriott River Cree Hotel and Casino, just outside Edmonton.  They have finally seen their wedding photos and now we can share it everyone.  The wedding started out with the tradition Chinese tea ceremony at both Shanley and Tam’s respective parents’ homes, as they both donned the traditional Chinese wedding clothing.  After that we headed to St. Charles Catholic church, located at the edge of north Edmonton, for the wedding ceremony.  The church was huge and wide open.  The ceremony was nice and before you knew it, it was time to sign the documents.  When the ceremony was completed, we headed to an industrial area near the church to do their creative portraits.  We found a very cool area and also had a business owner there graciously offered us the use of his warehouse.  We had no problems with that and took that offer immediately.  On this day we got to work with our good friends Ryan & Luke from Imago Weddings again, so we had to share S&T to make sure we both got what we needed.

When the shoot was all done, we had the reception to look forward to.  We all had a feeling these guys were going to throw a big party!  And they sure did.  When we walked into the room, it was beautifully filled with Tiffany blue every where.  The room was the result of the hard work of Renee Chan and her crew from Get Wed.  They did a fantastic job.  The reception opened with a high energy Chinese Lion Dance.  That got the party started!  The Calgary Photo Booth, Hoot Booth, made it’s first official appearance and it was a huge hit all night with people waiting in line to use it.  The photos from the Hoot Booth gallery says it all!  The speeches were filled with laughter, lots of crying and excellent toasts!  After the speeches, Shanley sang a beautiful Chinese song to her father that tugged many heart strings.  The rest of the night was an awesome celebration with friends and family.

Ryan and I are so honored to be part of your amazing union.  Thanks for having us at your wedding and giving us the important job of capturing it all for you guys.  Shanley you were absolutely gorgeous and so easy to photograph.  Tam, you are just a stud and you know it!  I want to be there to help break your bad luck on the Bow River, so don’t forget, we have to get out soon!  Congratulations again S&T!

2009 was an amazing year personally for me and for JT Images.  We had the honour of photographing 21 weddings and also did 2 trash the dress and a day after wedding session.  We shot weddings in Calgary, Edmonton, Banff and Red Deer.  Somewhere in there I also did 15 engagement sessions.  On top of that, I hosted my own “Just to Inspire” wedding photography workshop for the first time ever, here in Calgary.  All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family and friends, and especially Ryan, who assisted me on 95% of the weddings.  Muchos gracias, mi amigo!

My biggest thanks goes out to all my wonderful and amazing clients.  I am truly honoured to have been chosen to photograph such an important event in your lives and to be a part of it.  I really hope you will cherish all the wonderful images we made together, for all eternity.  I know I will!

Once I finished the last wedding of the season, I couldn’t wait to get started on my yearbook and this slide show.  My book hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does, I’ll be sure to share that with you all.  But for now, here are the images that made it in the book in a slide show presentation.  It was hard to narrow it down to 140 images, out the tens of thousands that I shot last year, but I did it.  Well, what are you waiting for???  Hit play!

Sowon & Dean were one of the few couples I booked this year over the phone.  Anytime I can book a couple over the phone, its a really flattering experience.  Sowon did say she was pretty much sold as soon as she found my website.  When I did finally meet, Sowon  & Dean in Edmonton, I felt that we were going to work very well together.  It sure turned out that way!  I had never photographed a wedding at the Fantasyland Hotel in West Edmonton Mall before, so I was really looking forward to it.  Since their ceremony and reception was at one venue, we had a lot of time to create photos for them.  We pretty much shot in and around West Edmonton Mall and got some great images of this gorgeous couple.

Thanks for having me come up from Calgary to cover your big day.  I wish you both the best.  I look forward to seeing you both again next time I am in town.

This past July, I photographed my friends Jody & Ben’s wedding in Edmonton.  I have known J&B for almost 4 years now and we’ve been good friends ever since.  J&B have been together for 13 years so it was only a matter of time before they got married.  I’ve been looking forward to this wedding since last year when they got engaged.  It was only my second Edmonton wedding photography coverage this year.  Ryan drove up from Calgary to cover Jody and her bridesmaids at Chrome Spa and Salon on the northside in the morning.  I still don’t know how Ryan was able to get up at 7am and drive the QE for 2.5 hours.  When I was done covering the boys at the best man’s home, I went to Jody’s sister’s home where she was getting ready.  I got there before Jody did and when she came home I was in shock.  I could not believe how gorgeous Jody looked!  And she wasn’t even in her dress yet.  The night before when were having drinks at Brewsters, Jody tried to explain how her dress looked and how the veil and dress was detailed with stunning Swarovski crystals.  I couldn’t wait to see her in her dress and when she came out I was not disappointed.  I couldn’t wait to start shooting!  After the bridal prep shots, we went over the chapel where the ceremony was.  But it was after that when we had all our fun creating photos. We stayed around the Mirage Banquet Hall where the reception was taking place.  We got lots of good stuff and they were troopers posing for photos in 33 degree heat.  It was so worth it!!  I did a same day slide show for J&B and here are some photos that were done for the slide show.  There are lots more, but these are the best of the best.   Enjoy.  And congrats again to you guys.  You both are awesome, I love you guys and I wish nothing but the best for you guys.
