JT Images presents the wedding of Brandie and Matt. Calgary Wedding Photographers.
Brandie & Matt kicked off my 2013 wedding season here in Calgary. I have been looking forward to this wedding since they booked a year ago. I remember when they booked, I was thinking, boy I hope it’s not going to be -30 on that day. Well, it turned out to be pretty nice that day with the temperature above 0.
Brandie & Matt have a lot of style and I couldn’t wait to see the fruits of their labor with their attire and reception. They both got ready for their big day at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel right in the heart of downtown Calgary. I always love it when the couples are getting ready in the same place. We went to see Matt and his boys first before heading over to see Brandie and the girls. Both rooms were a buzz with energy and excitement and Ryan and I got some great photos of them. Brandie looked absolutely stunning in her dress.
We headed to St. Stephen’s Anglican church for the ceremony. This was our first time in this church. We always love it when we discover a balcony at the church, because it gives us such a unique advantage. The church was pleasantly full with lots of their friends and family. The ceremony was very sweet. There was a moment where I caught Matt saying something to Brandie and she had tears of joy and a big smile. I can imagine what he must have said!
After the ceremony we headed right into downtown to do our photos. We shot in locations I hadn’t used before, including The Bow’s plaza where one of the world’s foremost sculptors, Jaume Plensa, has a sculpture called Wonderland. The sculpture is a 12-metre-tall bent-wire portrait of a young girl’s head. Ryan and I used this sculpture to the max and then some! We also used the front of the building and all the wonderful lines on the building to create our signature shots. Once we exhausted our ideas there, we headed back to the Palliser to use the hotel’s beautiful decor for a different mood.
The reception ballroom was simply elegant with gorgeous purple uplighting, complete a candy bar and an 11 piece band! Man I love live music at weddings, nothing can compare to that. The speeches were great and Brandie’s cousins did a great job as MC’s, keeping everyone entertained. My favorite part of the night was the mother/son and father daughter dance. I will never forget how happy both parents looked when they were dancing with their son/daughter. It was truly a special moment that I was honored to have captured.
Congrats Brandie & Matt!! As expected your wedding was amazing and the day couldn’t have gone any better for us all. I am thrilled your love your photos. I hope to meet some mini Rachiele’s in the not too distant future!
