I remember when I met Melanie and Rick, that I wasn’t the only photographer in Calgary that they were eyeing to document their wedding.  So when I got the call that they decided to go with me, I was very ecstatic!  Melanie has been looking forward to our engagement photography session for months.  When we met up at our shooting location, she was visibly nervous.  But what is there to be nervous about?  This is going to be fun and that’s exactly what it was!  Mel and Rick were down to do anything I wanted to do and were super troopers even sitting on dirty trains tracks to walking in dirt with prickly plants poking them.  The result was a fantastic engagement session!!  I can’t wait to do their wedding photography at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel on June 20th.  It’s going to be wicked!!

Caitlin & Connor are one of the most exciting couples I have met in this year.  Connor found me over on Calgary puck forums, where I frequently a lot.  When a groom is involved in looking for a photographer for their wedding, you know its going to be awesome, because the brides are almost always just as excited as well.  From the first email inquiry right down to our shoot a few days ago, I knew these 2 were going to be fun, different and totally in love.  They live right in the heart of Kensington, near downtown Calgary, so we hung around there finding cool places to do our photography.  When we met at the Safeway, I thought we had to shoot inside the Safeway afterwards for sure.  Of course they were down with that!  C&C hardly needed any direction… they were all over each other without me having to ask!  You guys are so awesome.  I am really looking forward to your wedding in December, it’s going to be a BLAST!  These 2 remind me why I love being a photographer!

Bekke & Mike | Airdrie Engagement Photography

October 31st, 2008

We booked last Monday to shoot this e-session almost a month in advanced.  I have to admit I was worried about the weather being crappy.  We were so ecstatic that it was almost 20 degrees.  I even bought a slurpee!  Bekke came to me a few month ago to book, but I had not yet [...]

We booked last Monday to shoot this e-session almost a month in advanced.  I have to admit I was worried about the weather being crappy.  We were so ecstatic that it was almost 20 degrees.  I even bought a slurpee!  Bekke came to me a few month ago to book, but I had not yet met Mike, so I was really looking forward to doing this session with them.  After getting to know Bekke at the initial consulation, I had to assume Mike was also as cool as she was.  After about 5 minutes, these 2 were naturals in front of the camera.  Showing their affection for each other was so easy and made it a lot easier for me as well.  Their wedding is in January at the Banff Springs Hotel and it should be sweet!

Mark is a fellow hardcore Flames fan, and found me on Calgarypuck.  When I first met these 2, I knew I would like them.  Jenn has an awesome, cute shy energy to her and Mark is her lovable teddy bear.  Jenn was a little nervous at first, but soon settled down and we had a [...]

Rebecca & Vedran | Calgary Engagement Photography

August 14th, 2008

These two are gonna be one of my favorite couples of the year, I can tell already. It all started with Rebecca sending me a very nice email about my work. She honestly made me blush with what she said. She was thinking that I wouldn’t be available for their August 23rd wedding, but I [...]

These two are gonna be one of my favorite couples of the year, I can tell already. It all started with Rebecca sending me a very nice email about my work. She honestly made me blush with what she said. She was thinking that I wouldn’t be available for their August 23rd wedding, but I never did have a wedding booked for that day. A few days later I met her and Vedran and right away I could see their excitement. We both wanted to do an e-session so I could get to know them better, and they wanted to get the JT experience. And boy did we all get what we wanted. I wanted to do something different than the downtown stuff I have been doing recently. So what better place than Ogden, right? Of course!

Dara & John will be officially married in late August, so we had to get the e-session done to get their guest book made in time. I wanted to head down to 17th ave and shoot around there for a while, but John wanted to a place he saw near Eau Claire. Dara & John already have an eye for photography, because where we went was simply incredible. Definitely one of my favorite locations EVER. As the sun was going down John really wanted to go up top to a parkade roof. It took a little bit of exploring, but we managed to find our way up. And WOW! Thank god we were persistent. We got some amazing shots as the sun started to really glow and gave us unbelievable light to work with. As you can tell, Dara and John were naturals at looking good for me. Now, I am excited for their wedding!

We headed down to Eau Claire, and there were tons of leaves on the ground. I sure sign old man winter was coming. Steve noticed my sneakers and asked if I was a collector! Good eye, Steve! I put off posting their engagement photos because if a possible re-shoot which didn’t happen. So with no further ado, here are tomorrow’s newlyweds!

Julie & Ray e-session: APMs

June 9th, 2008

What is APM?? How about “almost professional models”. The reason why these guys aren’t, is because they paid me and not the other way around! What is APM?? How about “almost professional models”. The reason why these guys aren’t, is because they paid me and not the other way around! Julie and Ray know how to strut their stuff making it soooo fun and easy to shoot them. I wanted a different feel for this engagement and Ray recommended going out to the mountains. The weather here has been nothing but craptastic with all the rain. As we headed west we were trying to decide if we wanted to turn around because it was pouring. We took an exit and drove under the Trans-Canada. Ray says, “what about here?”. I looked out the window and yelled, “yes! Stop the car!” Under the bridge is where we got our first few awesome shots. As the rain settled we ventured out and did more shots. Then it started to rain AGAIN! We decide to keep heading west this time since the rain was moving east. We went down the highway that takes you to Kananaskis where we ended up finishing the day at Barrier lake. I hope hoping the glacial silt there would have gave us a nice blue lake, but with all the rain the lake had a green color to it. Add the dramatic skies, awesome APM clients and the beautiful mountains setting, made it easy for me to make wonderful images. I can’t wait till your wedding in July. It’s gonna be nuts!
