Hey everyone! I just wanted to let all my faithful fans, followers and potential clients know that I will only be shooting destination weddings from now on. I will most likely cap the amount of weddings I shoot to 4 per year. So I guess you are probably wondering why I am doing this. I am currently involved in other ventures with business partners that are requiring more and more of my time. However, I still LOVE being a wedding photographer. I still LOVE the responsibility of creating beautiful images that last more than a lifetime for my clients. And I LOVE destination weddings.
I have photographed over 10 destination weddings in my career and the experience is like no other. The connections that I make with the friends and family that attend these weddings, last a lifetime. After all, you have 1 whole week (usually) to connect and get to know everyone. I am constantly inspired with the strange scenes and locations that I find. The biggest thing that makes me different than most destination photographers is that I LEAVE the resort to find awesome locations. The resorts are great and all, but it doesn’t truly reflect the beauty of the country that you have chosen to have your wedding in.
I am a huge culture, history and food lover, so it’s natural for me to want explore. Do you really want your wedding photos shot at the resort just like everyone else? After all, most resorts are “wedding mills”. Or do you want to walk the streets of Playa Del Carmen with me, where the aroma of street tacos tickles your sense of smell? Do you want to shoot on the cliffs on the northern coast of Maui? Maybe we can find a mansion under construction in the middle of town far from the resort. Once when I was in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, I found a couple sites that were ruins (amazing!). Including an old abandoned beachside restaurant just north of Ocho Rios. How about we head over to that quaint fishing village on the shores of the Caribbean where no one speaks English? I have taken this idea of exploring at destination weddings so seriously that I took up Spanish. I am now fully conversational in Spanish after 5 years. Trust me, people trip out when they see a Vietnamese Canadian speaking Spanish like a local to the bartender. When you can speak the local language, you get access to things you never would have gotten.
Another thing that makes me different is that I WILL hangout with your group! I will party with your group and make everyone my friend! I am not sure if that is something that you want, but that is who I am. I am not going to be a hermit and hide in my room all day or ask you to book me at another resort. I want to be where you, your friends and your family are!
So, if you want a true destination weddings experience with culture reflected in your images, gorgeous photos, an experienced award winning professional and a fun guy to hang out with… I am your man!
